2025 Year in Review: We Lost $6,000, But the Animals Won (A Little Bit)

Well, friends, 2025 is officially in the books.

When we started Soon To Be Mythical earlier this year, we had big hearts, bigger goals, and a healthy dose of existential dread. We wanted to build a brand that didn't just look cool, but actually did something about the glorious, messy, vanishing world around us.

They say the first year of business is the hardest. They say most small businesses don't turn a profit immediately.

As it turns out, "they" were right.

We believe in radical transparency—because if we can be honest about the extinction rates of the Sumatran Rhino, we should be honest about our bank account. So, here is the raw, unpolished truth of our Year One:

The Red Numbers (The "Ouch" Part) Running a conservation-driven, ethical, print-on-demand brand isn't cheap. Between building the site, sourcing high-quality eco-friendly materials, and trying to get our message out to the world, our expenses outpaced our proceeds this year by exactly $6,211.

In the corporate world, that’s called a "loss." In our world, that’s called "the cost of caring."

The Green Numbers (The Best Part) Here is the thing about extinction: It doesn’t wait for us to be profitable. The Pangolins don’t care about our profit margins, and the Vaquita Porpoise isn't checking our balance sheet.

So, despite operating in the red, we refused to end the year without making an impact.

We are proud to announce that we have donated $125 to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to close out 2025.

This donation is a combination of the generous tips you left at checkout (seriously, you guys are amazing) and us digging into our own (very empty) pockets to match the effort.

Why We Do It

$125 might not save the world overnight. But when you are a small business fighting an uphill battle, every dollar counts. That $125 represents a promise kept. It represents the fact that our mission—Postpone the Myth—comes before our bottom line.

We are entering 2026 with a lighter wallet, but a full heart. We aren't going anywhere. We have socks to design, myths to postpone, and a lot of work to do.
